Series of monotypes produced
Last spring, Jonathan Higgins at Galamander Press
invited Jane to work in the company's New York studios. There she produced a
series of 19 monotypes. The collaboration was so productive that another working
date is planned. Reader's Digest added three of the monotypes to their collection.
Commissions on view in restaurants
In 1999, McNichol was commissioned to create "Lake Sound Light" for New
York's Celadon Restaurant. Bogdanow Partners Architects designed the first- floor
dining room with the painting as a focal point. Bogdanow Partners Architects
also commissioned a painting for Caliterra Restaurant in the Chicago Wyndham
Hotel. "Distant
Vineyard," in the lounge area, is a large landscape reflecting the restaurant's
Tuscan/Nappa theme.
Featured on Reader's Digest back cover
In July 1999, The Reader's Digest featured McNichol's "Heartland." on
the back cover. "Heartland" is on of three large canvases that Reader's Digest
purchased in the spring of 1999.
McGraw Hill collection installed
Also responding to deep open spaces, McGraw Hill
installed seven McNichol paintings in the company's Manhattan headquarters and
downtown in their Standard and Poor offices.
