The Wetlands This series of large paintings are inspired by the tidal salt meadows in the coastal regions of New Jersey between the ocean and pinelands. These meadows are deep and flat open spaces that are interspersed with tidal pools. I’m drawn in by the flat open spaces, and intrigued by the juxtaposition of the dense grasses and the light reflections of the pools of water. Combining these two elements seems to offer limitless compositional challenges.
