The Road
McNichol: "The road through this life as an artist has not always been easy. At a certain point, for just a moment, I was able to see my life stretch out before me. I realized that my road through life had, in fact, been laid out for me, and that my road includes art. From that time, the road has been a powerful metaphor for me, one that continues to be fruitful. The road has led me here, to these paintings, at this time."
"The Road," "The End of the Road," and "Wethersfield Panorama" recall time spent at Wethersfield in Amenia, New York.
