A native of Philadelphia, Jane McNichol has lived in New York City since 1987. She received a B.A. in Studio Arts from Temple University, then studied for a year in Rome, Italy with Tyler School of Art.

In 1985, she was awarded a MacDowell fellowship in Peterborough, New Hampshire. McNichol also has been awarded the Anna Hyatt Huntington Bronze Medal from the Catherine Lorilard Wolf Foundation and a grant from the Friends of the Contemporary
Art Center in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Most recently, McNichol received the 2005-2006 Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant.

Her work hangs in over 50 private collections and is represented in corporate collections such as Reader Digest, McGraw Hill, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and Citizen’s Bank

She has exhibited her work steadily since 1983 in museums, galleries, and juried shows across the country. In 205 she exhibited at the Parrish Art Museum in East Hampton, NY. McNichol has mounted three solo exhibitions in New York City and in 2006 a solo show at the Villanova University Art Gallery.
